Qualifications

• 1+ years of phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to perform venipunctures at a high volume.
• Organized, accurate and detail oriented.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact with patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Centrifuge blood and prepare specimens for testing and courier pickup.
• Perform dipstick urinalysis, urine pregnancy testing and rapid strep testing; collect specimens.
• Document daily/weekly/monthly quality control per SOP and manufacturer guidelines.
• Perform testing such as ECGs, spirometry, vision/hearing checks, and glucose monitoring as site-specific.
• Maintain laboratory housekeeping, hazardous waste handling and inventory.
• Serve as preceptor for new phlebotomy staff as needed.
• Follow department policies on patient identification and specimen labeling.
• Prepare packing lists for specimen transport to off-site locations.
• Adhere to safety, infection control standards and quality assurance programs.
• Achieve and maintain BLS certification within one year.
