Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care, Inc. is seeking a phlebotomist to join the team. You will perform venipunctures on adults and children and ensure specimens meet requirements for analysis. You will handle processing and routing of specimens and manage related EHR clerical tasks.

The role includes quality control, potential off-site work, and mentoring new staff. BLS certification within a year and strong interpersonal skills are expected in this fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Qualifications

  • Education includes high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of phlebotomy certification program with externship preferred.
  • ASCP Board of Registry certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Centrifuge blood and prepare specimens for testing.
  • Perform dipstick urinalysis and rapid tests; collect cultures.
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly quality control per SOPs.
  • Perform testing such as ECGs, spirometry, vision/hearing, glucose monitoring as site requires.
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping, handle hazardous waste and inventory.
  • Act as preceptor for new phlebotomy staff as needed.
  • Adhere to policies on patient identification and specimen labeling.
