Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our Boston laboratory team. You will draw blood, prepare specimens, register patients in the hospital system, and support central processing and reporting in a fast-paced lab environment.

Requirements: high school graduate, phlebotomy training, Basic Life Support, 0–1 year of experience, and solid computer skills. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Training.
• Basic Life Support Certification required; ASCP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures including venipunctures, finger sticks, and swabs.
• Verifies, files, and organizes laboratory specimens, paperwork, and test results.
• Central Processing: receiving, centrifuging, labeling, and aliquoting specimens.
• Investigates testing requirements and coordinates lab referrals; enters send-out results accurately.
• Greets visitors, answers calls, prints or faxes reports, and schedules patients testing appointments.
• Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies and a clean work environment.
