Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture and other collection processes to patients calmly.
• Disposes of biohazard fluids or tissues per laws and policies and handles sharps safely.
• Completes requisitions in PathConnect and/or other PathGroup systems; verifies billing information.
• Enters patient and specimen data; communicates with clients to confirm orders and obtain correct billing information.
• Matches lab requisitions to specimens; labels, centrifuges, and prepares samples as required.
• Packages specimens for transport and maintains proper temperatures; follows protocols to preserve specimen integrity.
• Maintains required records and logs; assists with monthly statistics and data.
• Performs basic clerical duties including electronic data entry; adheres to grooming, safety, and confidentiality policies.
• Communicates issues to supervisor; contributes to positive work climate and teamwork.
• Ensures facilities are clean and well-maintained; reports repairs as needed.
• Assists with inventory counts and raises shortages and problems to leadership as they occur.
• Uses PPE and lab safety practices; aligns duties with security and privacy policies.
