Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Lab Assistant I (Phlebotomist) to support Lab Support operations. The role emphasizes training new LTAs and students, coordinating shift activities, and ensuring timely phlebotomy services with accurate specimen handling.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, directing specimens, and proficient use of LIS and Meditech while maintaining safety and quality standards. Per diem shifts, weekends and holidays required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of Phlebotomy Training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train new LTAs and students; maintain competency checklists.
• Coordinate and monitor LTA activities on assigned shifts.
• Distribute work and liaison between Laboratory and other Departments.
• Perform venipunctures; ensure proper specimen handling and labeling.
• Operate LIS devices and Meditech for reporting and troubleshooting.
