Job summary

BMCHS is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant (clinical lab assistant/phlebotomist) for a full-time position in Boston. The role involves training LTAs, coordinating shift activities, and providing timely phlebotomy services across the laboratory.

The candidate will perform duties across specimen collection, LIS-related tasks, and collaboration with hospital departments, while maintaining safety and accuracy as core competencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy and lab experience required.
• Graduate of Phlebotomy Training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification Preferred; ASCP eligibility within a year.

Responsibilities

• Train new LTAs and students; maintain competency checklists.
• Coordinate and monitor LTA activities on shifts.
• Distribute work and liaise between Lab and other Departments.
• Demonstrate advanced specimen collection skills and troubleshoot LIS devices.
• Review specimen status hourly to ensure tests are obtained.
• Perform duties of LTA and other lab assistant tasks as directed.
