Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our patient-first team at two sites in the Lakeview/Evanston area. The role involves venipuncture, specimen processing, and close collaboration with a proactive laboratory team to ensure accurate, timely test results.

The ideal candidate will perform phlebotomy with strong customer service and communication skills, and will participate in ongoing competency assessments while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or CMA certification, or one year of phlebotomy experience in healthcare.
• Familiarity with EMR systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and lab specimen collections per age-related standards and departmental procedures.
• Provide excellent patient communication and adhere to patient-first service.
• Enter orders and verify test results in multiple systems.
• Process and label specimens, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, and package for transport per policy.
• Maintain documentation and logs for QA and equipment concerns.
• Support lab reception/clerical duties and supply inventory.
• Collaborate with team to ensure accurate test orders and timely results.
