Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist to deliver expert phlebotomy services with a patient-first approach. The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to ethics and laboratory standards.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen processing, order entry in lab systems, and ensuring specimen integrity for accurate test results. Strong customer service and knowledge of EMR systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization or CMA certification.
• Experience performing phlebotomy on diverse patient types.
• Experience with processing lab specimens and using a centrifuge.
• Familiar with medical EMR systems and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and venipuncture following age-related standards and policies.
• Receives and reviews physician orders; enters orders in lab information systems.
• Labels, processes, and transports specimens to ensure integrity.
• Maintains patient communication and post-venipuncture care.
• Keeps accurate logs and QC/QA records; reports issues to supervisor.
