Job summary

Mercy Health West Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Department. You will draw quality blood samples, prepare specimens for testing, and support clerical tasks to keep the department efficient.

The role requires accuracy in patient identification, compassionate interaction with patients, and cooperation with staff. Travel to off-site locations may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomist certification preferred but not required.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing.
• Enter orders, look up results, generate reports, and answer internal/external calls in a timely, friendly manner.
• Collect specimens according to established procedures and ensure proper processing.
• Identify patients accurately and match patient identity to the correct service for safety.
• Perform clerical duties such as inventory checks, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
