Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to support patient registration and specimen collection across clinic and hospital settings. You will perform phlebotomy, manage patient data entry, and maintain strict sample handling procedures.

Responsibilities include using HIS/LIS systems, communicating with staff, and assisting with inventory and training to ensure efficient workflow and accuracy in specimen processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or prior phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
• Register patients and collect payments; enter demographic and insurance data.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and perform phlebotomy.
• Collect specimens including blood, urine, swabs, and cultures per protocol.
• Transports specimens to the lab and ensures sample integrity.
• Assist with inventory, training, and mentorship of staff.
