Job summary

Qualifications

• This role requires practical venipuncture skills and the ability to collect specimens accurately.
• Proficiency with basic computer tasks, including record-keeping in MS Office.
• Excellent patient communication to explain procedures and ease discomfort.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles
• Ensure all physician orders are understood
• Match requisitions to specimens and process per test orders
• Verify test requisitions against scripts for accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and store according to protocol
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and wear PPE
• Attend trainings and respond to inquiries about results and specimens
