Henderson Group in Washington DC seeks a Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent hire. The role requires experience in venipuncture, specimen handling, and patient communication, with duties spanning collection, labeling, and processing of specimens.

The schedule is 7am-4pm on weekdays and occasional Saturday sessions, with benefits available. The candidate should have a valid phlebotomy certification, relevant experience in fast-paced labs or hospitals, and proficiency

Formación

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state law
• Minimum 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience in phlebotomy or related duties

Responsabilidades

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles
• Understand all physicians' orders
• Match requisitions to tubes, label, centrifuge, split and freeze specimens as required
• Check test requisitions or computer labels for accuracy
• Package specimens for transport
• Store specimens according to required temperatures and transport protocols
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results as needed
