Job summary

6 Degrees Search in Washington DC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role with potential for permanent placement. Shifts are 7am-4pm (Mon-Fri) and Sat (7:30am-11:30am) for an initial 3-month term.

The phlebotomist will perform blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining records while ensuring specimen integrity and OSHA compliance. Requires state phlebotomy certification and at least 5 years venipuncture experience; MS Office proficiency and a High School Diploma or GED are also

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
• Minimum of 5 years venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws and labeling specimens.
• Centrifuging specimens and recording maintenance data.
• Collects and stores specimens per procedures; explains venipuncture process.
• Demonstrate technique with straight/butterfly needles.
• Ensure correct test requisitions and labeling; package specimens for transport.
• Store samples per protocol; comply with OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings; answer inquiries about results.
