Job summary

Job Juncture seeks an experienced phlebotomist in Washington DC for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The role involves drawing blood, labeling and processing specimens, and ensuring compliance with lab protocols.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen handling, and patient communication. Must have valid phlebotomy certification and at least five years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required by state.
• Minimum of 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Ensure physician orders are understood and followed.
• Match requisitions to specimens, label, centrifuge, and freeze as required.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity per protocol.
