Job summary

ExcelliSearch, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a contract Phlebotomist for a 3-month assignment with potential for permanent placement. The role involves blood draws, specimen labeling, and maintaining specimen integrity in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Schedule is 7am-4pm Monday to Friday with a Saturday half-day shift. Experience with geriatric patients and hard draws is preferred; benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required by state law
• Minimum 5 years of venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously
• Demonstrates technique with straight or butterfly needles
• Understands all physician orders
• Matches requisitions to specimens and labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes as required
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples properly
• Adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attends annual trainings
• Answers phone calls and communicates lab results as needed
