Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC seeks a Phlebotomist in Washington, DC for a contract role with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is 7am-4pm Monday to Friday, plus Saturday mornings, with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for perm.

The role requires experience in venipuncture, specimen labeling and processing, and ability to work with geriatric patients; benefits are available and OSHA procedures must be followed.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Fully understands all physicians' orders and matches requisition forms to specimens.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
