Job summary

Markent Personnel, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract assignment in Washington, DC. The role involves performing venipunctures, labeling specimens, and ensuring proper specimen handling in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm for an initial 3-month assignment with potential for permanent placement. Must have current phlebotomy certification and a high school diploma or GED; MS Office skills preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the employing state.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Check test requisitions against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store per required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and relay lab results when required.
