Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. in Ashland, OR is hiring a Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm, off every other Friday.

You will perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, explain the venipuncture process to patients, and package specimens for transport. Qualifications include a state phlebotomy certification, 2 years of phlebotomy experience or at least 6 months in a fast-paced lab, and a HS diploma or

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years of phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens according to required temperature and transport to maintain integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
