Qualifikationen

• 6+ months venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment
• High school diploma or GED; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Aufgaben

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures; explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels to ensure accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and regulations; comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
