Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrates technique using straight or butterfly needles as required.
• Ensures lab requisitions match specimen tubes and labels.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples per protocol.
• Follows OSHA and DEP regulations and attends annual trainings.
• Answers telephone inquiries and reads lab results as needed.
