Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks an experienced Phlebotomist to join a contract role serving Montgomery County, MD. The position covers multiple sites with a float assignment and standard shifts from 7am–4pm or 8am–5pm (EOS 8am–12pm).

The engagement is 3 months with potential for permanent placement. Responsibilities include performing venipunctures, labeling and processing specimens, maintaining equipment, and ensuring patient safety and accuracy in testing procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years of phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders and match lab requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order and package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen samples according to required temperature and follows protocol for transport to maintain integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
