Red Seal Recruiting Ltd. is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in the Austin area. The position involves phlebotomy duties, specimen handling, and compliance with lab procedures. The role requires current phlebotomy certification and at least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced setting.

The assignment lasts about 3 months with potential for permanent opportunity. Mileage expenses are paid, and a clean driving record is required for float locations within the Austin area.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain clearly the venipuncture process and other specimen collection as required.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures and transport as needed.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
