Sun Recruiting, Inc. seeks a Phlebotomist for the Austin area on a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The position involves venipuncture, specimen labeling, and handling of samples across multiple local sites.

Required: valid phlebotomy certification and at least 6 months of venipuncture experience, plus proficiency with MS Office and a HS diploma or GED. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• minimum 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously; demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders and match requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings and handle inquiries by phone.
