Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories in Rio Rancho, NM, is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist for an hourly role. The candidate will work with minimal supervision across modalities, perform phlebotomy and clinical tasks, and may start at an apprenticeship level if experience is limited.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, patient interaction, confidentiality, and supporting on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred PBT (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
• Completion of a CLIA-based Lab Assistant program preferred.
• Immunization against Hepatitis B required or waiver.
• Must be able to work on-call and handle various modalities.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains supplies and inventory necessary to perform departmental functions.
• Observe students and or new staff as needed.
• Exhibit basic problem solving skills to ensure exceptional patient care service levels.
• Responsible for hospital communication responsibilities including on-call when scheduled by location.
• Demonstrates effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Maintains confidentiality of position and information.
• Participate in on-call coverage as needed to meet service levels.
• Participate in holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed or required.
• Basic PC skills.
