Job summary

TriCore, New Mexico’s largest laboratory, seeks a Clinical Lab Assistant Phlebotomist to work with minimal supervision, perform multiple modalities, and contribute to patient care. Compensation is based on the modalities performed, with a paid apprenticeship option for those new to the field.

Regular attendance during scheduled hours is essential. This role supports hospital communications, on-call duties, and demands strong confidentiality and professional judgment across patient care teams.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Clinical Lab Assistant program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintain supplies and inventory for departmental functions.
• Observe students and/or new staff as needed.
• Demonstrate problem solving for patient care and service levels.
• Handle hospital communications and on-call responsibilities by location.
• Communicate effectively by phone and in person.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Assist with on-call coverage and holiday/weekend shifts.
• Perform basic clerical tasks and document critical communications.
