Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a dedicated Pheresis Technician to support plasma collection operations. You will set up donors, monitor during pheresis, perform venipuncture, and ensure safety and efficiency throughout the donation process.

You'll educate donors on plasma-derived therapies, monitor for adverse events, log incidents in the PDA, and assist with equipment maintenance. A high school diploma and 18 months healthcare experience are preferred, with potential cross-training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 18 months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or equivalent.
• Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.

Responsibilities

• In compliance with SOPs, performs all aspects of pheresis and plasma collection including donor setup, monitoring and disconnect.
• Performs venipuncture to begin pheresis process following FDA guidelines.
• Evaluates donor vein performance and makes corrections to expedite donation while maintaining safety and quality.
• Educates donors on therapeutic products from donated plasma, screening, tests, fees, center policies, nutrition and other relevant information.
• Monitors for donor reactions, assists with reactions or notifies appropriate staff.
• Uses PDA to record incidents, alerts, alarms, variances and adverse events.
• Provides guidance and technical training to donor floor staff as required.
• Monitors donor flow to ensure turnover and allocates resources for backlog.
• Performs calibrations and ensures maintenance per SOPs; responds to complex alarms or issues.
• Troubleshoots equipment failures and documents incidents; removes/replaces equipment as needed.
• Updates supply lot numbers in the electronic system when new lots are introduced.
• Supports center management with staff scheduling and resolves minor donor relations issues; refers employee relations to management.
• Ensures accurate donor data entry in the electronic system as per SOPs.
• Understands policies for hyper immune programs if applicable.
• Maintains clean, safe work environment and ensures supplies are available; follows HSE and OSHA policies; conducts routine audits.
• Maintains donor data confidentiality.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required at organization’s discretion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
