Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician in Training. The role supports dispensing and care delivery under pharmacist supervision, with enrollment in an approved technician program and 30-day certification requirement.

Eligible candidates must register as a technician-in-training, with rotating 8-hour shifts, and potential overnight coverage. Prior pharmacy experience is preferred, and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program required.
• Certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire is required.
• Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates questions or issues outside the technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Overview:

Sentara is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician in Training at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Location: Norfolk, VA- Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Rotating (8 hour shift)

Hours: 6am-11pm* (occasional overnight coverage)

Weekends: Every Other Weekend

Holiday Rotation

*Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• *Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program

Certification/Licensure

• *Certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire in the state of practice is required
