Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program Certification/Licensure.
• Certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire in the state of practice.
• Previous Pharmacy Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Work Shift Rotating Overview

Sentara is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician in Training at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Location: Norfolk, VA- Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk) Shift: Rotating (8 hour shift) Hours: 6am-11pm* (occasional overnight coverage) Weekends: Every Other Weekend Holiday Rotation *Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program Certification/Licensure
• Certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire in the state of practice is required
