Actalent in Cary, NC, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to manage end-to-end prior authorization and insurance verification for specialty medications, enabling timely access to therapy. The role supports a growing specialty pharmacy operation with a patient-centered focus.

The position requires experience in pharmacy services, payer requirements, and documentation, with a hybrid work environment combining remote work and in-office days.

Qualifications

• Prior authorizations experience in hospital, specialty pharmacy, or healthcare setting.
• Strong pharmacy services knowledge and workflows.
• Experience with insurance verification and payer requirements.
• Ability to review extensive medical notes and records to extract required documentation.

Responsibilities

• Explain insurance types and when to use each for patient coverage.
• Gather complete and accurate insurance information for prior authorizations and claims.
• Enter communications and case updates into Biologics MIS.
• Process pharmacy claims and interpret responses to determine next steps.
• Triage prescriptions to HUB/providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Handle inbound/outbound calls with patients, clinics, payors.
• Review clinic notes and large medical records to meet payer requirements.
• Collaborate with CoverMyMeds to submit and track prior authorizations.
• Identify adverse events and report to clinicians.
• Assist with projects like reverification and other initiatives.
• Navigate patient cases to resolve barriers to treatment.
• Meet productivity: ~16–20 patient cases/day.
