Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a Pharmacy Access & Solutions Technician to support advanced specialty therapies. The role involves coordinating benefits investigations, prior authorizations, and patient onboarding within a multidisciplinary ambulatory care setting.

You will work under a licensed pharmacist to ensure timely access to high-cost medications, navigate insurance barriers, and contribute to program optimization and patient experience improvements.

Qualifications

• Two years of pharmacy technician experience or three years of relevant experience.
• Experience with specialty medications and infusion workflows.
• Certification/licensing as required by UNC Health.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of service line applicable regulations and external support services
• Proactively identify and analyze opportunities for intervention and seek solutions to customer concerns encountered both inside and outside of the department
• Utilize EPIC and commercial vendor software to document and track patient eligibility, prescriptions, patient communications and program enrollment
• Document and communicate findings to the patient, provider and pharmacies per internal operational standards in a timely and professional manner
• Provide support to develop and utilize processes that improve operational workflow to positively impact patient care and optimize clinical processes.
• Respond to and resolve pharmacy-related inquiries from members, clients, providers, or pharmacies related to medications. Triage as needed
• Assist in training for new employees and pharmacy learners
