Job OverviewFairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN is seeking a Pharmacy Tech II. Under the direction of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for day-to-day comprehensive pharmacy technician services in a complex medical environment. This may include unit dose dispensing technology and sterile medication compounding.
The Pharmacy Technician will skillfully use interpersonal, customer service, problem solving and collaboration skills to support and influence operational objectives.
- Partner with care providers and pharmacists to ensure that patient receives the needed medication accurately, safely, in accordance with all legal requirements and policies and in a professional and timely manner.
- Under the direction of the pharmacist, receive prescription/orders from electronic medical record, process manually or using the appropriate computer system and protocols, prepare drug therapy and/or dispense medication in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.
- Maintain the IV hoods or isolators, clean room, ante room according to manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements as applicable.
- Coordinate ordering, delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested.
- Participate in regulatory, quality assurance and process improvement activities and other projects as assigned.
- Support the training of new trainees.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience
- At least 3 months pharmacy technician experience in a complex pharmacy or healthcare environment.
License/Certification/Registration
- Eligible to become registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MN State Board of Pharmacy and eligible to become certified with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
- Nationally certified or become certified within 12 months of employment. Certifying exams must have National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation, with examples including, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and The Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
Preferred Education
- Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program
Preferred Experience
- At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a complex pharmacy or healthcare environment.
