Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II - Provider to support the California Poison Center System at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, CA. You will assess and manage emergency and informational calls from the public, triage calls, document consultations, and assist in creating patient education materials.

The role requires California-licensed pharmacy technicians with 2+ years in specialty or retail pharmacy, strong communication, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy.
• Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a Specialty Pharmacy and/or retail/community.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Ability to triage calls according to CPCS policies.
• Experience in poison centers or emergency health calls.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial management advice and follow-up for CPCS calls.
• Collaborate with Specialists in Poison Information per CPCS policies.
• Manage and triage calls to other staff per CPCS policies.
• Document all consultations in an electronic medical record.
• Assist in developing written materials as requested.
• Provide referrals to and alert governmental agencies when appropriate.
