Job summary

UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento seeks Pharmacy Technician II-Provider to assess and manage emergency and informational poison control calls to the California Poison Center System.

Under supervision of the Director and Specialists in Poison Information, you will provide initial management advice, triage calls, document consultations in the EMR, and assist with developing written materials and referrals to government agencies when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Providing initial management advice and follow-up for emergency and informational telephone calls from the public to the California Poison Center System.
• Working under the direction of Specialists in Poison Information and the CPCS policies and guidelines.
• Managing and triaging calls to other staff as specified in CPCS policies and procedures.
• Documenting all consultations in an electronic medical record.
• Assisting in the development of written materials as requested.
• Providing referrals to and alerting governmental agencies when appropriate.

Job description

UnderthesupervisionoftheDirectorandthedirectionoftheSpecialistsinPoisonInformation,thePharmacyTechnicianII-Provider providesassessmentandmanagementadviceandfollow-upforemergencyandinformationaltelephonecallsfromthepublicmadetothe CaliforniaPoison Center System at UC-Davis Medical Center.The calls received from the public may include issues such astoxicity ofdrugs,householdchemicals,plants,venomousandenvironmental chemicals.

ThePharmacy TechnicianII-Provider(PT II-P) isresponsible for:

1. Providing initial management advice and follow-upfor emergency and informational telephone calls from the public to the poison control center(SacramentoDivision of the CaliforniaPoison Control System(CPCS)).
2. Working withthedirectionofSpecialistsinPoisonInformationandaccordingtopolicyandguidelinesoftheCPCS,underthesupervisionoftheMedicalandManagingDirectors.
3. Managingand triagingcallstootherstaff asspecified in the CPCSpolicies andprocedures.
4. Documenting all consultationsinanelectronicmedicalrecord.
5. Assisting inthedevelopment ofwritten materialsasrequested.
6. Providingreferrals to andalertinggovernmentalagencies whenappropriate.
