Job summary

Walgreens Boots Alliance is seeking a Pharmacy Intern/Associate to engage in post-graduate pharmacy activities under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will counsel patients, assist with immunizations, medication management, and ensure compliant dispensing per regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from accredited University outside the United States.
• Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
• Intern permit/certificate issued by the respective Board of Pharmacy, if required.
• Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 45 days of completion of intern hours.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers by anticipating needs and offering services such as immunizations, medication management, and health education.
• Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, counsels patients and answers questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions and contraindications.
• Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
• Reviews, interprets and accurately dispenses prescribed medications when necessary.
• Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance to regulations and policies, and assists with workflow and inventory management.
• Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems and supports IT/automation enhancements.
• Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with payers and providers.
• Performs immunizations and other preventive healthcare services.
• Assists and supports the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and KPI reviews.
• Develops relationships with local medical community and participates in outreach.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from accredited University outside the United States
