Job summary

SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Patient Access Specialist to coordinate specialty medications ordered from SUNY Upstate clinics and providers, handling orders, prior authorizations, copay cards, and patient outreach.

The role aims to maximize revenue for high-cost therapies, review take-home medications for appropriateness, and enhance patient service with PA services at Upstate outpatient pharmacies.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a medical/pharmacy related field (or equivalent experience).
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required within 18 months of hire.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, conflict resolution, and computer skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate specialty medication orders and complete prior authorizations.
• Assist with manufacturer copay programs and patient outreach forSUNY Upstate clinics.
• Review take-home medications for medical necessity and appropriateness.
• Support revenue capture for high-cost medications and PA services at outpatient pharmacies.
