Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in Midland, Texas, is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform sampling, gauging, and reconciliation of hydrocarbon cargo transfers from shore tanks, barges, or ships.

You will follow API procedures, ensure safety, and document results using SGS systems. The role requires high school or equivalent, 6 months to 2 years transferrable experience, and a valid driver's license; TWIC preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent (Required).
• 6 months to 2 years of transferrable industry experience (Prefered).
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Sample, measure, and temperature-check vessel and shore tanks.
• Calculate and report quantities transferred; perform full reconciliation.
• Prepare reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) or Site Acceptance Test (SAT) systems.
• Coordinate with client representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel, and shore facility staff.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and safety practices.
