Job summary

SGS in the United States is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing and supervision of hydrocarbon cargo transfers. You will gauge, sample, and reconcile transfers from shore tanks, barges, or ships in line with API standards and SGS practices.

The role requires basic English, attention to detail, and teamwork to report results using SGS systems. Training and career development are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent is required.
  • 6 months to 2 years transferrable industry experience preferred.
  • Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Physically samples, measures, and temperatures vessel tanks per API procedures.
  • Calculate and report quantities and perform full reconciliation of transfers.
  • Prepare reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) or Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
  • Coordinate with client, US Customs, vessel personnel, and shore facility staff as needed.
  • Adhere to SGS safety, integrity, and operational standards.
