Job summary

SGS in Carteret, NJ seeks a Petroleum Inspector to perform sampling, gauging, and reconciliation of hydrocarbon cargo transfer. You will work with API procedures, report results, and maintain safety and quality in operations.

This role requires basic English, math skills, and the ability to work independently as part of a team, with strong attention to accuracy and compliance with SGS standards.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• 6 months to 2 years of transferable industry experience preferred.
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sample and measure vessel tanks and temperatures per API procedures.
• Follow safety standards and perform efficiently.
• Calculate and report quantities and reconcile transfers.
• Complete reports using SIR and SAT systems.
• Coordinate with clients, customs, vessel personnel, and facility staff.
