Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing, sampling and reconciliation of hydrocarbon cargo transfers, ensuring compliance with API procedures and SGS standards.

You will generate reports, interact with clients and vessel teams, and support back-office activities as needed. The role requires basic English, Math proficiency, and the ability to work under varying deadlines while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• 6 months to 2 years transferrable industry experience preferred.
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Physically sample, measure, and temperature-tank inspections per API/S SGS procedures.
• Report quantities and perform reconciliation of transferred hydrocarbons.
• Complete reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
• Coordinate with client reps, US Customs, vessel personnel, and shore facility staff.
• Maintain safety standards and adherence to company procedures.
• Assist in back-office duties and other duties as assigned.
