Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector in the United States to perform testing of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons, including sampling, gauging, and reconciliation of transfers between shore tanks, barges, or ships. You will operate under SGS procedures and industry standards while coordinating with clients and regulatory bodies.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic English, and reliable performance in dynamic environments. Valid driver's license is required, with TWIC preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months to 2 years transferrable industry experience preferred.
• Completion of Inspector Development Program Level preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• TWIC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sample, measure, and temperature-check vessel and shore tanks per API.
• Calculates and reports quantities of hydrocarbons transferred and reconciles transfers.
• Completes required reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) and SAT systems.
• Collaborates with client representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel and shore facility staff.
• Maintains safety, ethics, and compliance with SGS standards.
