Job summary

SGS in Houston, TX, is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing and supervision of hydrocarbon cargo transfers from shore to vessel, ensuring accuracy in gauging, sampling and reconciliation. The role requires a High School education and some transferrable industry experience, with Driver's License and TWIC preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• 6 months to 2 years transferrable industry experience preferred.
• Completion of Inspector Development Program Level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sample, measure, and temperature-check vessel and shore tanks as per API procedures.
• Follow safety standards and use defined procedures.
• Calculate and report quantities and reconcile transfers.
• Complete reports using SGS SIR/SAT systems.
• Coordinate with client, vessel personnel, and authorities.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and SGS policies.
