Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing, sampling and reconciliation of hydrocarbon transfers between ships, barges and shore tanks, following API procedures and SGS standards.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma, 5+ years of transferrable experience, and a valid Driver’s License; TWIC and IFIA certifications are preferred. You will work with client representatives, port staff and regulators, maintaining accurate reports and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years transferrable industry experience required.
• Internal Inspector Development Program Level completed (preferred).
• English language basic proficiency required.
• Strong communication and math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling, temperature measurement, and calculation for hydrocarbon transfers.
• Follow API procedures and SGS standards; maintain safety practices.
• Prepare and file reports using SGS systems (SIR/SAT).
• Coordinate with client representatives, port personnel, and regulators.
• Assist in back-office and related duties as needed.
