Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to work with the veterinary team in providing and preparing for the best medical care for pets.

Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, assisting during examinations, and maintaining hospital cleanliness while upholding our Five Principles. Weekend and evening hours may be required, and the role emphasizes client education and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Strong English communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Comfort with basic computer software and patient record systems.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical item and supplies for the veterinarian.
• Maintain the flow of the Cycle of Service and provide client education on preventive care.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients and care for their needs.
• Bathe and dip pets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions.
• Clean the surgical suite and instruments.
• Ensure cleanliness of the hospital and routine housekeeping duties.
• Other job duties as assigned.
