Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to work with the veterinary team to prepare and provide the best medical care for pets in a welcoming and efficient setting.

You will assist clinicians, prepare exam rooms, set up labs, educate clients on preventive care, and help maintain a clean, organized hospital environment. The role involves lifting, restraining pets and standing for long periods, with weekend/evening hours possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to multi-task and manage several tasks with accuracy
• Excellent English reading, writing and verbal communication
• Organizational skills to cut through confusion and create order
• Strong problem solving with practical solutions
• Consistently provide attentive, courteous client service
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions
• Basic math to compute rates, ratios and units
• Comfortable using a computer and basic software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment room and supervise supplies for examinations
• Set up and run routine in-house lab tests as allowed by state rules
• Explain preventive care and wellness plans to clients
• Support Client Services Coordinator as needed
• Restrain and handle pets during examinations and procedures
• Maintain hospital cleanliness including kennels, laundry and dishes
• Clean surgical suite and instruments; ensure hospital is organized
• Monitor hospitalized pets and ensure comfort and safety
• Perform additional duties as assigned
