Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to support the veterinary team in delivering compassionate care for pets and assisting clients in a friendly, efficient environment.

Responsibilities include room preparation, sample processing, client education on preventive care, and assisting with examinations and routine in-house labs, while maintaining hospital cleanliness and safety. Weekend/evening hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography and exposure to radioactive substances.
• One year related experience preferred with customer service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical items and supplies.
• Set up fecals, smears, and skin scrapings as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Provide client education on preventive care and wellness plans.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients and keep hospital clean.
• Assist with anesthesia-related tasks and ensure safety of staff and pets.
• Assist the Client Services Coordinator as needed.
