Job summary
The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Director of Strategy for Personal Lines in Massachusetts. This full-time exempt role leads risk appetite and portfolio strategy, partnering with Actuarial, Finance, and Underwriting to define growth and risk tradeoffs across products and regions.
You will establish KPIs, drive cross-functional initiatives, and present portfolio options to senior leadership and boards, shaping long-term market positioning and reinsurance strategy.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant work experience and 3+ years leading cross functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the Personal Lines risk appetite framework and targets.
- Develop a portfolio strategy view across products, geographies, and channels.
- Assess portfolio performance against risk appetite and objectives.
- Lead scenario analysis and stress testing for market, weather, and competitive conditions.
- Collaborate with Actuarial and Finance to align underwriting strategy with financial outcomes.
- Translate portfolio insights into strategic direction for Product and Underwriting teams.
- Prepare executive materials on portfolio health and tradeoffs.
