Job summary

Wayne Farms is seeking a Shipping Superintendent to partner with the Shipping Manager, overseeing the shipping department, leading supervisory staff to ensure safe storage, on-time dispatch, and strict adherence to SOPs, GMPs, USDA and OSHA regulations. This role emphasizes safety, productivity and cross-functional collaboration to optimize schedules and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years relevant in a supply chain or shipping environment; experience in perishable foods preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively; previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
• Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency

Responsibilities

• Manage department through supervisors following established procedures adjusting as necessary to meet shipping schedules, increase efficiencies, and meet or exceed budget objectives
• Oversee the day-to-day departmental activities to ensure efficient transportation and storage of materials used and produced by production lines and the safe and efficient loading and unloading of product to reduce risk of contamination and damage
• Review department, docks, and storage facilities to ensure they are organized and maintained according to guidelines/procedures
• Gather, compile, and create required reports communicating bottlenecks, issues, and other risks to product and shipping schedules to appropriate personnel
• Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement
• Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions on a fair and consistent basis
• Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
