Job summary

Wayne Farms in North Carolina is seeking a Shipping Department Leader to oversee all aspects of shipping operations, directing personnel to meet schedules and ensure product integrity according to SOPs, GMPs, USDA and OSHA requirements. You will establish procedures, coach staff, drive safety, and coordinate with production to maintain on-time deliveries, reduce waste, and uphold customer specifications.

This role requires four years in a supply chain or shipping environment, strong leadership

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years relevant in a supply chain or shipping environment; experience in perishable foods preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership including timekeeping, policy adherence and conflict resolution; supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer focus with excellent verbal and written communication; able to interact across all levels and with external customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage department by establishing procedures and adjusting as necessary to meet shipping schedules, increase efficiencies and meet or exceed budget objectives
• Oversee day-to-day activities to ensure efficient transportation and storage of materials and safe loading/unloading of product
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and reduce repeat deficiencies
• Mentor and train employees; provide feedback on strengths and areas for improvement
• Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions fairly
• Promote safety initiatives and ensure PPE usage to maintain a zero accident culture
• Ensure department, docks and storage facilities are organized and maintained
• Collaborate with other departments to meet location goals
• Learn and adhere to current Union negotiated contract if applicable
• Perform all other duties as assigned
