Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related sections under Store Manager supervision. You will oversee inventory, pricing standards, and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with food-handling rules.

You will train associates, monitor stock, and coordinate with vendors to maintain freshness and attractive displays. Prior retail or supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail experience with supervisory exposure is desirable.
• Knowledge of cash handling and inventory practices helpful.
• Ability to read and interpret planograms and merchandising guidelines.
• Certifications in food handling, if applicable, are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and order guides to optimize freshness and availability.
• Train associates on proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns, analyze causes, and prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and sanitation standards are followed.
