Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store leader to manage the Perishable Departments including produce, meats, dairy, and bakery. You will help with inventory management, merchandise presentation, and strong customer service while ensuring a safe work environment and asset protection.

You will assist in staff training for proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of food, supporting Store Manager and Store Support Center goals. Retail leadership required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, employee handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using tools such as ads/planners and order guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishables.
• Train associates in safe food handling and proper stocking/rotation of perishables.
• Record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center and address customer needs efficiently.
